The theory of social capital, as an interdisciplinary theory, despite the growing number of studies on it, has yet to arrive at a unified definition. Nevertheless, it claims a remarkable role for specific social elements, relationships, and social culture in achieving development or progress. In this study, an attempt has been made, utilizing the meanings and concepts of Quranic verses and applying the grounded theory method, to extract and model the Quranic perspective on the concept of social capital. To achieve this aim, concepts close to the main components of the traditional social capital theory—namely, trust and trust-generating norms, networking, and social participation—are examined. Consequently, Quranic concepts such as religious brotherhood, preservation of family dignity, reliance on and trust in the Merciful God, and trust-generating norms have been explored. These concepts are presented as the main pillars of the proposed Quranic theory of social capital. They are revisited within a network of verses reflecting love and compassion inspired by divine mercy, which collectively illuminate the structures, foundations, principles, and objectives of Quranic social capital. This exploration aims to propose a potential model for Quranic social capital.
